Hello?? Does anyone still visit here anymore? I might have an answer to that if I bothered to put up and keep a counter running on this thing, but I got other things to do with my time. I've started work on a couple of websites now, thought none of them are out of the beta stage right now. Nothing really new to post...no exiciting news so far really. Maybe, just MAYBE I'll actully update this thing a little more often now, but I'm not around as much to sit around and scour the net for qwirky little news posts and such to throw at you. I guess we'll see what happens...currently my track is one post every other month.

Wow...2002 already? This holiday season seemed to fly by...I almost didn't haven enough time to finish all my shopping. All went well for the most part alot of traveling here and there. Peggy (my girlfriend in case you forgot) and I spent the 28th - 1st 2002 in Florida visiting the diffrent Disney World parks. We went to Epcot, Animal Kingdom and of course for the New Years celebration Magic Kingdom. The fire works were pretty nice...cept for the debris that rained down on us after about 3 mins. I guess we were a little too close. We also got sick and Peggy almost gave me a heart attack by passing out in Burger King due to restricted breathing most likely. We got a nice visit to the ER the next day to be checked out to make sure we were okay to fly out on the 1st. Oh well all in all a good holiday. Hope everyone else had a nice holiday season also and Happy New Year. Lets hope this one turns out a little bit better for all of us.

Ahh..theres noting quite like the speed on a new 1.2Ghz machine. Well that is unless your new machine isn't really running. Stupid friggen windows. I'm running win2k and I very recently bought/installed a new Soyo MTK7APRO mother board w/ a 1.2ghz AMD chip. Only problem is that now windows is saying my hard drive in corrupted and won't stay running. It gets to the windows logon screen then reboots my system...different stop errors occur too. Bah..anyway so now it's time to by a new hard drive. Remember kids if you're going to play around with building a new system...make sure you have cash to burn.

Moving forward...

It's been a while since I've even really had anything to post after the 11th. Nothing has really been all that important in my life except for the fact that I still have it, and that I am very greatful for. I haven't led the best life, I've had my vices and my bad times...as well as my good. Why god didn't choose for me to be somehow more directly effected by these events is sometimes bothersome to me, but I go on and thank him for my extended time, because even though I'm 40 mins from NYC, there is no reason why middlesex country NJ couldn't have been a target. (ok so yeah we don't have much....blue ribbion schools and some malls?) But as the title of this blog says.....Moving On.

That's what I am doing, but please don't take that as forgeting. I will never forget the events of Sept. 11th 2001 for the rest of my life, as I'm sure non of us will. I salute all the men and women who are risking thier own lives at ground zero and also to the armed forces of not only the united states, but all out allies that will take part in a milltary action. I myself have a brother and cousin in the US armed services and I pray for thier saftey as things begin to heat up. I meant for this to be a more upbeat posting...but I guess my thought took control over my humor, I'm sorry if that bores you. Couple last things, first I was watching MTV and it seems that just about every popular and not so popular artist got together to re-record/mix Marvin Gayes "What's Going On" and all the proceeds will be split between United Way's September 11 fund and AIDS relief organizations. Go to http://www.mtv.com/music/whatsgoingon/ to see a full list of the artists and for more information. Also please don't forget that blood donations will still be needed in the following weeks as blood supplies will start to run low again. If you haven't given and can please do sometime in the next few weeks and deffently if another call goes out for more blood. That's is exactlly what I said as I watched on TV at work in the presidents office the second plane smash into the World Trade Center.
My heart, thoughts and prays go out to the families and victims of the horrific attacks on our country today. If you live in the tri-state area please GIVE BLOOD. I don't even have the words to really begin to descibe how I'm feeling about all this today except for that the first hour I really thought this was all just a dream.

Just a few months ago my girlfriend Peggy and I were standing atop of the observation deck looking out over New York. That may never be again. As I watched the tower collapse I almost collapsed myself. I could not belive it. I still just don't know what to think and what will come of this. The future is worrying me...and I guess my brother won't be home for his B-day after all. He's in the Navy and they are on High Alert. If/when we do retaliate for these attacks...I hope we do a damn good job...and leave nothing behind us.

Again my deepest regrets to the families of anyone in the WTC or Pentagon.

I got the new System of a Down album, "Toxicity". If you're a System fan or even just like the new songs you should get the album. Well then again if you don't like fast hard rock and speratic rythem changes maybe you shouldn't. Anyway this album is just as good as thier first self-titled album, if not even a little better. The two "radio friendly" songs Chop Suey! and Prision Song are NOT even close to the heavier songs of the album but the album has such a range and is so well layed out everyone should like it.
In other music related news Refind a local friends band makes thier return next friday to the show circut after the summer off. I can't wait to hear some of the new shit and see how they've tweaked the other stuff. I could just drop by a practice and find out, but what's the fun in that.
Also I ordered Peggy and mines 311 tickets for the Asbury Park (NJ) Oct. 6th show. This will be my second time seeing 311, at the same place no less, along with Mike E and Jim. It should be a good ol time...just hope I don't get too much "second-hand".

As you can see (if you've been paying attention..which is sad) I've gotten around to adding some links over on the right and modifying the highlight style some. More is to come but I was working most on a database setup & program for Name That Bead.
I figured out that I can "look" busy at work and really be writing code, just as long as I don't get too involved in it and keep up on my work no one notices and I get some work done while getting paid for doing my other job. Hey lords knows I better get some stuff done now because come September I'll probably be working a good amount of overtime getting the new server online along with the new company and UPC coding system. I'm also trying to convice the president to let me and our outside techie to rewire the building with new Cat5 cables so we can get the network up to 100mbps(or at least 10mbps) with the new server. HEY wake up! Damnit...why do people always fall asleep when I tell them about my job....friggen bastards...

Hey no posts in.... ah forget it, Mike pointed out I always start out that way nowadays.
I changed to a pre-made template, mainly because I've been too busy trying to get my SMTP server online and working to bother with any other projects. I will start posting more in the MONTHS to come, Peggy will be returning to school again and I'll be left to my lonley life where I see my friends every couple of weeks or so and spend a lot of time online.....damn it's 1998 all over again! :)
I'll get around to tweaking this thing like I want it to be, and I'll post up links to my completed projects once they are on thier servers.

Speaking of work, I have about one more month until I'm done with Chubb. I will be leaving with a Certificate in Web Programming, knowing VB, Java, JavaScript, JavaBeans, HTML, DHTML, XML, SQL/Oracle and I've been teaching myself on the side MySQL and Linux/Unix as well as how to run a Web Server. While it's nice to know most of this stuff it's just a basic type knowledge that I really have to expand on more in my own time. At least it gives me the foundation (hopefully) to get a good job. In case I didn't say it before though, or you didn't see it..I DO NOT RECOMMEND CHUBB! They are a bunch of friggen liars. They make everything seem really nice when signing up and for the first unit of classes but after that it all goes down hill. Anyway enough of that...back to class...peace.

Government owes me money, Government owes me money..yea! So in case you didn't guess I did my taxes last night. Both the Feds and State owe me back some cash. Though it's not a lot but for only my 2nd year of filing it's enough and the money is pretty much already spent. Don't forget April 15th is tax day..though seeing as how that's Easter Sunday everyone has a one day extension and if you owe the feds want you're check by April 16th. For those wondering, I did my taxes online again this year using TurboTax.com. Seeing as how I'm in school and made less that a specified amount the filings for both Fed and State didn't cost me anything. Took about 90 mins or so and they have a very good sytem and it's very very helpful when you get stuck or need more info on something...like if you car really write off that crack you bought to keep you awake at work.

So yeah I was watching MTV just now and a couple videos caught my attention....first off...
"Watch....me dance...Children...Don't make...me...remind you...about...the scooching again..."
The only man that can scare the shit out of me just sitting down doing nothing, Christopher Walken is in the video for Fatboy Slims song "Wepon of Choice". He dances, he moves...he freaks the livin shit out of me. Obviously Fatboy Slim is on some sort of drugs now...probably crack.

Also I FINALLY caught the video for Crazytowns "Butterfly"..I know it's been around for a while but shit people I have Java Servlets to write and social gatherings to attend..TV hasn't be something in my top list of priorites lately. Anyway could these guys rip off other bands and wear any more makeup? Probably, but they're pretty fuckin deep in now as it is. The guitarist copies his "sticato movements" off of the Bassist for Limp Bizkit(don't get me started on them) who in turns half copied if off of the bassist for KoRn who fucking rocks and discovered LB. Also the two singers, pierced and tattooed all up are signing about butterflys and this girl that is a butterfly..or something...I dunno..that's what I get from the video at least. Also the one singer must spend hours on his nails...I know girls that would be jealous of his nails.

Sources: Soft spots remain in Apple's new OS
With the initial March 24th relase date of Apples long awaited new Max OS X glithces in the first version and a non-disccounted upgrade price are being hailed as some major setbacks. It seems the initial Release of Mac OS X - code-named Cheeta - will have no DVD playback or authoring capabilites. Also it seems that systems with new graphic cards like GeForce3 won't see an increase in preformance in 3D or 2D graphics. Mac OS X also has some other glitches that may cause the system to hang or freeze. Most of these prolems should be resolved by summer when Apple releases the next version of Mac OS X code-named Puma.
Still not as bad as some of the major holes and glitches that were in Win95 and 98 when they first came out, though that DVD issues is a killer if you really wanted to upgrade that iMac.

It begins...
I told you that nothing good will come of this AOL/Time warner merger and today I was proved right. I have a subscription to TIME magazine. Today I got my weekly copy in the mail yet this one was wrapped in plastic. Nooo, TIME didn't decided to save thier magazines from the rain, instead inside that plastic wrap was non other than the already famous AOL Free CD! First words out of my mouth where...Son of a bitches...followed by..OHH EZ Pass statement. I was hopping the showed the times you entered and exited the turnpike but the don't...I wanted to see if the flagged me for turning my hr and 1/2 long trip into a 50 min trip. :)

Internet population hits 56 percent
I thought it was becoming a little crowded here. This raises a couple questions in my mind, the main one being can this network built o' so many years ago on what is now pretty much anchient technology handle the volume of this many users? Also what about broadband for the masses, will ISPs and Cable providers alike be able to keep up with the ever growing demand, or will cable modems and DSL lines soon fall to the same fate as dialups...slow connections and errors?
Finally where is internet2, the supposed project being worked on that is pretty much building a new internet with the fastest networks and new markup languages and stuff like that so that the new internet is fast because the data can move quicker internaly as well as externaly. I haven't heard anything on that in awhile.

Peggy, myself and Mike all went to see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" last night. For those of you out there going "it can't be good, you have to read subtitles!" you're dead wrong. The story was very very good and had a good layout (though some of it was confusing) and not that hard to follow. As for the fight scenes...It's tied with the Matrix for #1 in my book. I hope it wins all the awards it's up for this year. Anyone out there that isn't afraid of a little reading go see this movie, for the rest of you...get real and get an education.

This one doesn't do any damage though, just like Meilissa in 1999. Obviously from the stats on the link above from Mail.com internet users have NOT learned about not opening something they don't know about. I on the otherhand 1) know what I'm opening before I open and check to see if anything looks funny about the message or attachment and 2) don't open any attachments with more than one extension on it! If I see filename.something.vbs then guess what...I KNOW IT'S TROUBLE! Also it seems people with MS Outlook never bothered to install the update that fixed that flaw in Outlook..another thing I did do.

Oh my, I haven't posted in almost a week. I know you were all so worried too. ;) Anyway the reason for no recent posts is because of the rolling blogger out..which I seemed to catch everytime I wanted to edit the site so then I would get involved in somthing else...like watching TV and not get around to posting. Also I've been working quite hard on my project for school(I'm a programmer for those of you just tuning in) I have to figure out this XML stuff - which I think I almost have done now - and intergrade that into my project as well as finish writing that cookie....ummm...cookie...oh oh sorry. So anyway I'll post some more stuff next week probably or maybe over the weekend when I get a break. I have next Friday and the following Monday off from school at least.

KillAd - Kill Advertising Popup-Windows Easily
I found this link to a program called KillAd on the Sluggy Freelance site. It's a cool little program that will kill most popus ad windows. You can add window titles or URLs to lists that sepcify if the window it to be killed or allowed to open. You can also set it to kill window sizes smaller than one that you set. If you are a blogspot poster, DON'T use that option as it will kill your Blogger Post window when you try to open in to post a page or you could leave it on and just diable the program when your going to do a post...that's what I'm doing right now. Sorry only works for Windows but does work with Netscape, Internet Explorer and even Opera. Oh yeah, be warned, when you go to the site to get the program, about 5 or 7 popups will open, just close them, download and install KillAd and reopen your browser(exit it and restart it) and then go back to that page..you will see that ads popup and then die in less than a second.

Apple begins shipping Titanium laptops

I don't know if any of you joined iWon.com when it was the big thing a few months ago like I did but I've found that they're just annoying jerks. I haven't been by iWon in a couple months plus now, and they know this. So instead of maybe deleteing my account and leaving me alone after no sight of me, they instead send you anoyying emails trying to make you feel guilty for not visiting the site, or like your missing out on something big and grand. At least once a week I get emails from them with subject lines like: "Is your uncle rich?" or "Did we do something wrong?". Like these are really gonna make me go..."oh yeah..iWon..I should go by there." I have enough surfing to do as it is w/o being slamed with ad links to click to earn points that enter you into cash prize drawings that I belive I have a snowballs chance in hell in wining. I think it's time I just erase my account from them....wonder how many. "please come back!" emails I'll get then..considering the less users they have the less capital that get from investors and before you know it, another dotcom is Chapter 11.

Microsoft blames technicians for massive outage
Sure they blame the techs. Who else are the gonna blame? Then again @Stake makes a good point in showing how MS has all thier DNS servers on one network. All major sites have backup DNS servers on diffrent networks, just incase something happened. If a large enough DDoS attack could be run against the MS servers it could cripple the companies site for a hell of alot longer then 24hrs.
please note I'm not saying to DDoS MS, I don't want to get busted by the FBI because of something I said in a blogspot post.

FTC drops probe into DoubleClick privacy practices
I hate doubleclick. They have put about 200 cookies on my computer as it is. You can't visit a site without them knowing. While some feel that data is not very useful, others (and I) belive it is. The data the collect though your surfing could contain information about you you don't want to get out, or -like me- I just don't like the fact that some company is tracking my surfing without my authorization.

Sort of a good read and interesting, though after a day of school and work I just read 1/2 and then skimmed the rest, then said screw it I'll just post it. Basiclly give me a couple more antennas and I'll have a better cell phone reception or higher speed wireless internet connection...then again that would require me to actully get wireless internet.

Netscape Navigator Version 6
I provided a link just for the hell of it to Netscape. They recently released the new version of thier browser Netscape Navigator. I decided to use some more of my schools bandwith up and download/install it today at school. The Navigator system comes with AOL Instant Messenger, RealPlayer 8 and Net2Phone intergrated into it. You can choose not to install these options using the custom install method. To save room and download time I decided NOT to install Net2Phone or AIM as I have the latest version of it already and no need for Net2Phone Upon turning my computer back on at home later tonight I found that Netscapes install system ignored my options not to put in AIM or Net2Phone! Well first words out of my mouth were you little bastards..after that I removed the uneeded items. At least they uninstall as easly as the put themselves on. To say the least this did NOT improve my thoughts about Netscape. As a Web developer I HATE the uncompatibilty that Netscape has with most of the nice options of Microsofts IE. Now I'm not one to talk nicely about MS..ask my teacher or Mike E but by far they have the better browser. So let this be a warning to all you thinking of downloading NN6, you will most likely also have to uninstall items you don't really want.

Internet worm squirms into Linux servers
Anyone wanting to check out a new worm that's running around the net, click on the above link. A worm is a computer virus that can replicate and move on w/o any interaction from the user(usually), just like the "I Love You" email worm that went around back in '00. Before you get all freaked out though it's only attacking web servers that run Red Hat 6.2 and 7.0 so unless you meet those two standards don't go running out and mass emailing your friends and relatives...and if you do meet those two standards....I hope you already know about this or else you really need to go somewhere else for news updates. :)

salon.com has an article by Katharine Mieszkowski about California's energy crisis. (in case you didn't know, Calif's electric companies are going bankrupt, fast.) Seems the net is to blame for the energy crisis at hand. The articles a good read. I def like the 3rd page...I had to try my hardest to keep from laughing out loud in class about some of the things said on it. Who's write though? Is the net using 3% or 8% of the nations electricity? Read it over and see who you think is right. Persoanlly I don't see how a Palm Pilot can use as much electricty as a refigerator.

This would be a great thing here, though it would never work. Too many people, too many spammers and not enough time to track down all these bastards. At least some ISPs are starting to take action. While most have a no spamming policy in thier sign-up agreement some are going further. My ISP - earthlink - has a spam catcher that users can choose to turn on or off at will. The program checks all incoming mail for known spam and new spam that has tell-tail signs. Users are allowed to log in and check thier anti-spam account and remove msgs that have built up and have msgs that are legit passed on.

I don't know how many of you out there are like me when it comes to anti-virus software. Personally I've never been hit with a virus or worm that's been in the news. I'm usually way ahead of the media when it comes to things like that and actully in the last 3 or 4 years I've not had one virus on my PC minus the BackOrifice system but that was sort of a double edge sword..in order to run the program to be able to untilize the virus on other computers I sort of had to infect my own computer and just set it up correcttly so I wouldn't become the victim. Anyway back to what I was saying...while I don't really care enough to go out and by McAfee or Norton Anti-Virius software and then also pay for updates, I'm always on the look out for some cheaper protection that is hopefully just as good. Well I found it and if you think free is cheap enough for you surf on over to InnoculateIT from Computer Associates. The program is free, the virus updates are free and it's not a 30 day trial evaluation type deal ethier. They give you a single personal edition to d/l and use on one PC only as stated in the user agreement you must agree to. I actully took the time to read this one over, it's not very long like the MS ones, and you should to, just so you know what's what. How does it preform compared to McAfee or Norton? I dunno...but I'll look around and see if I can't find some sort of comparisons and will post them if I do. Until then go protect yourself from those evil computer viruses.
ps: No this software will not protect you againt unwanted AOL porn ads, worms, crappy MS products, or something you might have to see a real doctor about....like that thing growing on your arm...might want to get that looked at there skippy.

Lightdog - Frequently Asked Questions I saw this ISP on the back of my cereal box. Check this out, I was looking over thier service just for the hell of it...first off the charge more than anyone for dialup access but the reason is this filtering. I linked to the FAQ above..check out the "How does the filtering Work?" section and a couple sections after that. They filter stuff like sites with porn or about illegal drugs and such. Not that this is really a bad thing but do you really want your ISP in charge of what you see? I can see parents who want to shelter thier kids from the "harsh" world - like the morons they are - using this service but what if you then decided sometime down the road you wanted to explain to your kid(s) about pornography or the dangers of drug use but can't because the site you want to use is blocked.

Yeah so people are finally starting to belive in what I've been saying from the time the Simpsons premier was on for this season. The creators are now on crack full time. This season so far has been off the wall crazy shit..and as usual I'm still laughing and repeating things from tonights episode.
Speaking of shows on FOX what the fuck is with this Temptation Island crap...its just stupid...I hope this will be the begining of the end for the "Reality" shows then Ican go back to watching MTVs "Real World" which is about as adictive as smack as Mike E pointed out last season. Also Malcom in the Middle just plain sucks now. It was pretty much down hill from the first episode anyway..I mean it's the same shit...Fransis gets in trouble or something at school..the Mom yells alot the dads a fuckin idiot and Malcom and his brothers all do something and then malcom figures some way out of the trouble they're in...damn predictible.

So yeah...Friday night I come in around 12:30a from a friends,...no snow. (ok so that's Saturday but shutup). My girlfriend's dad looked out at 1:30,...still..no snow. I wake up at 9:30...8 fucking inches already on the ground..that's an inch or more per hour..and it has kept up that way. I'm doing my post while warming up before heading out to my girlfriends to help her move some snow and then sleeping there. It has stopped snowing now...they say we may get a few more inches tonight or tomorrow but the current reading i took outside where the snow hasn't been touched was 18". Don't know if the following is true or not but it has been said that Microsoft Windows is 37 MILLION lines of code. For those of you who aren't programmers or programming students(like I) then that means it's a SHIT load of work to write that. Obviously a company as big as Microsoft can afford to have a whole department or two of programmers working on the seperate parts of the program. So that's what..about $10/line of code for good ol' Billy? We're(my class and I) are guessing that the code is probably about 75% - 90% functions.

I'm addicted to Emulation now. It's really just a diffrent form of my gaming addiction. Emulation uses an Emulator - A computer version of a console gaming system (ie: NES, SNES, N64, Sega, Gameboy) and ROMS - computer version of the cartidges the regular console uses - which the emulator runs. There are many diffrent emulators for all of the diffrent systems out there, some good, some not so good and some that are just bad. Problem I'm having is finding one that supports a Gavis controler pad...I think I'll just upgrade to the MS sidewinder or something, most seem to be okay with that. For now i have the NES emualtor working fine which is a plus seeing as how I gave away my NES system and my girlfriends and friends both don't work anymore. Check it out for yourself if you like...go to Excite or your favorite search page and search for Emulation or Emulator and the name of the system you want to play. Beware though, Nintendo doesn't like emulation and you aren't supposed to have a ROM of a game unless you already own the cartridge...but then what's the point?

So now I've decided to jump on the blogger band wagon. After my friend Mike Elliott created one and pointed me to it here, I kept coming back every couple of days to see what was new in his posts..a way of keeping up with him seeing as how I never get out anymore due to school and work...but more on that later. So now I have one. Sorry Mike I had to... I'm sure it won't be as good as yours..you're the witty one of the bunch. At least I'm giving him props for the idea, so hopefully he won't be too upset to see myself following suit. I'll get to posting more as soon as I put my thoughts togethere. To start I have a story that I'm working on that is derived from one of my girlfriends dreams about me(sorry no sexual content)...

So where does my Blogger name come from? Well as (almost) everyone knows CTRL, ALT, & DELETE are the three keys you press at the same time to reboot your computer when it is stuck or just pisses you off. I felt the name hit the nail on the head seeing as how I'm always doing something on my computer that causes it to need a reboot. To date there have been 2 Harddrive failures, 3 total reformats of the harddrives, 1 near death shot to my motherboard(right after getting it), reinstall of Windows 95-98se about 5 times and many many driver/software issues...all in the quest of more speed and better running capabilites, ironic no?
